How is permanent make-up done?

Sterilized disposable needles are used to implant the desired colour into the dermis layer creating a permanent effect.

Can I be allergic to this procedure and will I require a patch test?

A health analysis will be performed prior to the treatment. If a patch test is required, it will be performed at the time of consultation to determine possible allergies as well as colour matching. The patch test is simple to administer, it is performed on the scalp, behind the ear, or if colour match is in question, directly over the area to be treated.

Is the application of Micro-Pigmentation / Permanent Make-Up painful?

Highly effective topical anesthetics are applied to the area to numb and provide maximum relief to ensure a comfortable procedure.

The most effective FDA approved, topical anesthetics are used in every treatment. Individual effectiveness may vary from client to client, however some treatments have been rendered virtually painless by the anesthetics used.

What is involved in the healing process and post care?

There is some redness and swelling immediately following the procedure. This will quickly disappear after the procedure. The application of ice or cold packs is helpful to some. The application of Polysporin or an equally medicated petroleum based jelly for 5-7 days after he procedure is critical to promote quick healing.

Will I require more that one appointment?

A touch up appointment is sometimes required 3 to 8 weeks after the initial treatment. This second appointment will perfect and detail the final look. As the years pass (between 5-10 years), a touchup or re-enhancement procedure may be desired for some people.

Is this procedure safe?

The pigments used are made of colorants which have been FDA (Food and Drug & Cosmetic) approved. A skin/patch test will be performed on individual cases.

Is the procedure really permanent?

Pigments are implanted in the epidermis and papillary layer of the dermis. In time as the skin cells replace themselves, the color will lighten and require a touch up, usually between five to ten years for eyeliner and three to five years for brows and lip liner/stick. Individual cases may vary.

Pre-care

LIPLINER AND LIPCOLOUR

If you have ever experienced a cold sore or sun blister, the pre-care regime is essential to ensure a good lip liner or lip colour result. The virus which causes this lesion is a microorganism which is dormant in your system and will activate once the location site, in this case the lip area, is disturbed. When we work on the lip area the virus will emerge once again impeding and compromising the work done. To prevent this from occurring a doctor prescribed anti-viral remedy such as Voltrex or Novarex is recommended. Taking this remedy a few days before your service and a few days after, will aid in keeping the virus dormant.

Post care

EYEBROWS

  1. Avoid cleansing brows the same day as procedure.
  2. Avoid any type of cosmetic application to the area until healed, usually 2-3 days.
  3. Use cold compresses at home if there is still some swelling.
  4. Apply generous amounts of vaseline to the area for 3-4 days until healed. This will prevent scabbing and loss of colour from occurring.
  5. The skin will peel and shed during the first week. Do not peel or scratch the area.
  6. Itchiness and dryness is normal.
  7. The colour will fade between 20-30%, leaving a more natural lighter pigment.
  8. If required, a touch up appointment may be scheduled after three weeks.

EYELINERS

  1. Avoid washing the eyes the same day after treatment, clean eyes with fresh water for a few days, pat dry only.
  2. Apply cold pack for 15 minutes every hour for the first day. (Pack a large ziplock bag with ice, allow ice to partially melt so that an ice water pack is the result.) Cover with a cloth and place over eyes. The ice water rather than an ice pack is gentler and lighter while cooling the required areas.
  3. Avoid application of pencil or liquid eyeliners for a few days
  4. Do not rub, scratch or peel the area.
  5. Dryness and itchiness may occur. This is normal.
  6. The application of vaseline to promote healing is advised. Apply only on the lid over the liner, do not apply inside the eye.
  7. Contact lenses may be worn after treatment.
  8. If required, a touch up appointment may be scheduled after three weeks.

LIPLINERS

  1. Avoid washing lips after treatment. Gently rinse with cool water for a few days.
  2. Avoid the application of coloured lipsticks or lip balms until outer layer of skin has completely healed.
  3. Apply cold pack for 15 minutes every hour for the first day. Continue to apply cold compressed for the first few days at home.
  4. Apply generous amounts of vaseline to entire lip area. This will promote healing and prevent excessive dryness.
  5. Some swelling will occur for few days subsequent to the treatment. The lips will peel and feel quite dry for the first week. Itchiness and general soreness is normal.
  6. Do not scratch or peel the area.
